Description
Elena’s ‘Trebbiolo’ may well be the gateway drug of sorts to the estate’s red bottlings, comprised of 60% Barbera and 40% Bonarda (aka Croatina). It’s the younger version of the traditional Colli Piacentini blend, born from the younger as well as lower areas of the vineyards. Grapes are fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel and concrete tanks, with on-skin maceration of around 20 days. Wild and savory as all get-out on the nose, it offers a perfect trilogy of soil, mineral, and fruit. Aromas of sweet small berries, blackberries, and myrtille give way to forest floor, mushroom, and leather. Prickly, racy acidity and rustic tannins keep things super fresh.
